Upshur County photographer Fred Brooks photographed his daughter during the early 20th century in French Creek as her pumpkin load got away from her. The Brooks brothers of central West Virginia made many contributions to agriculture and rural life in West Virginia having their names on the Brooks Bird Club, the Brooks Nature Center at Ogleby Park in Wheeling, and Brooks Hall on the West Virginia University campus.
